Meeting minutes 2015 11 04

Robert D Anderson edited this page Nov 4, 2015 · 2 revisions

Attendance: George, Robert, Roger, Shane, Radu, Eliot

Item 1: Any updates about prior releases?

Radu brought something up about 2.1.2 -- release notes HTML doc used to be at root level, is missing. Should investigate before 2.2 release. Robert has vague memories of discussing this as a "dual maintenance issue", with copy in root and copy in doc dir, but copy in root (I think) was full history, while copy in doc is latest release.

Item 2: DITA-OT 2.2 status and updates

Nearing the end of development. No new big features, and be careful with fixes. Roger watching docs, trying to get release notes up to date. Release notes draft is up at http://www.dita-ot.org/dev/release-notes/

So far, Roger has exported the list of resolved issues for 2.2; grouping reflects github grouping (features / bugs). Chatted with Kris about this, she suggested maybe group by category user is interested in (PDF issues, HTML, etc). Roger picked several things to highlight - DITA 1.3, HTML5. Robert suggests new language support for PDF.

Radu asks about DITA 1.3 schemas -- treated as experimental, or final, or ...? Need Jarno to comment on what he'd like to do here. We will ship latest from OASIS, it has had a few tweaks in last week.

Roger asks about coordinating the release process. Between now and DITA-OT day, many traveling. Need to have a schedule so docs, build can be coordinated, built around same time. Robert guessing can build package Sat night or Sunday before DITA-OT day, leaving Roger up to Saturday to update docs.

Item 3: Doc updates and plans

Robert's article on startcmd finally posted: http://metadita.org/toolkit/startcmd.html

Roger has a couple questions to ask Robert outside of the call, about issues in 2.2.

Item 4: DITA-OT Day 2015

71 people registered, plus 1 that has confirmed will not attend. Expect a couple more registrations. Room holds up to 150. Have double checked info about sound / logistics. Need to set up for webinar. Options: can have webinar itself to broadcast to projector, has a slight delay, but we would see any issues right away. Other option: connect each computer to projector, may have more logistical issues.

Supporter list updated to include Comtech.

Robert asks about suggested anti-patterns for that presentation. Have a few collected. Other suggestions: customization folder for Idiom. [Leads to doc idea: how to convert a customization directory to a plugin.] Eliot suggests antipatterns of using XSLT 1 instead of 2, Continuing to use named templates instead of modes. Plugin / customization directory that copies an entire file, instead of the single needed template, has caused problem for many Oxygen users.
