Meeting minutes 2015 09 03

Robert D Anderson edited this page Sep 3, 2015 · 4 revisions

Attendance: George, Eliot, Robert, Eero, Roger, Guillaume, Jarno

Item 1: Any updates about prior releases?

Any concerns about 1.x, 2.x?

Roger noticed: 1.8 docs still point to older version number, not latest fix pack. Would be nice to refresh to latest, though the docs themselves have not changed (apart from possibly fixes listed in release notes).

Item 2: DITA-OT 2.2 status and updates

Jarno has been going through tracker looking at 1.3 issues. Radu has also added some issues related to new 1.3 features. Otherwise, Jarno has been working a lot on DITA to Word, less on core project.

Need to finalize the scope, be ready to ship by DITA-OT day. Biggest remaining question - 1.3 schemas? Should include them, have them take priority; if you remove them, and you get 1.2. Just need to get to it.

Item 3: Doc updates and plans

Roger's focus at moment - catching up with migration information. Need topic on migrating to 2.0. Noticed our old info about migrating between releases was in release notes, but old release notes are not in the published doc now, so need to pull those out to new (published) part of docs. Info about migrating 2.0 will go there.

Need to update implementation-dependent-features for 1.3. Things in the spec that say "MAY". Could be a long task to gather those statements, state what we do, likely of most interest to developers.

Item 4: DITA-OT Day 2015

More confirmed sponsors (Gnostyx). Joe Gollner also submitted lightning talk idea

Have about 25 people registered.

Need updates on draft agenda - George needs response from the rest of us. Figure out session quantity, lengths. Need to get session proposals from us as well.

Some concrete ideas:

  • Why you don't need startcmd
  • How to invoke / embed the toolkit
  • What's wrong with the toolkit / why that shouldn't worry you (point/counterpoint)

Ideas should go in the shared google doc so they don't get lost

Item 5: Other topics

  • Robert finally drafted an article about the changes to startcmd, and why it's no longer needed. Roger and Kris reading the draft to provide feedback, plan to revise and post soon.
