Using the Market Data Panel

robbyxp1 edited this page Jul 7, 2022 · 12 revisions

The market data panel shows you the current market prices at the last station you docked at, or if it has a record you can select another station. It allow you to compare two stations against each other so you can identify any profit you can make from trading between them.

Market data from the Market event, which is written when you visit a stations commodity market. You must either visit this service to get the market data event or be logged in the CAPI to automatically get the data after docking.

The dialog itself allows you to select the market data to show (left selection), you can choose from the Travel History Entry Last meaning show the last stations values, or a particular station if it has those values in memory.

You can also using the right drop down select a market to compare these prices with. Then it will show, if it has price information, the profit to/from you will obtain, per ton, from trading that good.

Click buy only to show commodities which you can actually buy or sell at the currently selected stations.

Click auto swap (8.3+, not shown) to automatically swap your comparison station to the previous visited one when doing a->b->a trading.

Further explanation:

Let's call the station in the left drop down menu "A" and the station in the right drop down menu "B".

"Profit To" is buying at A and selling at B, "Profit From" is buying at B and selling at A.

If two stations are compared "Buy Only" filters for things that can be bought at either of those stations, while "Sell Only" filters for things that either of those stations has a demand for.

Note that both filters add the name of station B if the data is from that station, while things station A buys or sells are without a station name.
