Sprint Planning Meeting, SecureDrop, June 13, 2018

Sprint timeframe: BOD 6/13-BOD-6/27 BOD

0) Mini retro (max 15 minutes)

What did we get done? What do we want to change?

  • Conor: Eager to get Tor browser tests in. Saw PR related to that -- Tor browser in staging VM. Is that necessary? Jen: Should be run in dev container or on local machine.
  • Docker container changes - reactive in response to security issues. Mike: Doesn't need to be in CI, could be done at release time

1) Review important dates:

  • EOD June 19: String freeze, pre-release announcement
  • EOD June 26: SecureDrop 0.8.0 Release

2) Review our time commitments

Ensure we capture PTO/holidays (incl international).

June 18-22: Mickael PTO

4) Decide on sprint goals. Proposed:

  • Release SecureDrop 0.8.0 smoothly
  • Finish up remaining testing improvements from last sprint
  • Rebase API for work in next sprint

5) We try to stick to the sprint backlog except for:

  • urgent bug fixes [outage level]
  • urgent security fixes
  • quick (< 1 hour) community PR merges + comments -- alternatively, communicate that PR will be handled next sprint
  • responding to issues

6) Estimate and pick tasks for sprint backlog => screenshare

Consider tasks not in the spreadsheet: bugs, PRs, other urgent issues

7) Mini standup
