Sprint Planning Meeting, SecureDrop, March 21, 2018

Participants (alphabetical): Conor, Emmanuel, Erik, Freddy, Harris, Jen, Kushal, Loic (listening in + providing context), Mike, Mickael

Agenda:

  1. Reminder: This is our first sprint. Processes will evolve rapidly. Estimates will be off. Tools will annoy. Please give continuous feedback.

  2. Review our time commitments: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1suD_hQApz2cAm3JT4AZLmgsnuzpYWotgvudE3keulqs/edit#gid=0

  3. Review our tools: Board (requires org access), Task Estimation. Task scores: 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 - roughly map against hours, but we'll lose that distinction as we develop a better sense of real team capacity.

  4. Agree on the primary sprint goals. Proposed:

  • Clear PR backlog and high priority bugs, esp. 0.6 related
  • CI and dev infra improvements
  • Work towards new SecureDrop.org launch in following sprint
  1. Agree on the rules of engagement. We try to stick to the sprint backlog except for:
  • urgent bug fixes [outage level]
  • urgent security fixes
  • quick (< 1 hour) community PR merges + comments
  • responding to issues
We may run out of tasks that one team member can work on! We will keep an eye on our velocity and may do mid-point adjustment.
  1. Estimate and pick tasks for sprint backlog => screenshare
