Digital.gov uses LISTSERV software (procured by GSA) to manage its list of members and communication among community members.

Subscribe

To join a community, you will need to go to one of our community pages, click the “Join by email” button, and follow the steps provided.

List Types

Please note that Digital.gov Communities mostly include members of the federal government; however, some communities may allow membership across broader audiences.

We specifically offer the following community types:

  • Government Employees Only with Managed Discussions. Members and emails to the group will need to be approved by the Community Lead(s) or Digital.gov.
  • Government Employees Only with Open Discussions. Members will need to be approved by the Community Lead(s) or Digital.gov, but emails can be distributed to the group without review.
  • Open/Public Membership with Managed Discussions. Anyone can join the group without approval from the Community Lead(s) or Digital.gov, but emails to the group will need to be approved by the Community Lead(s) or Digital.gov before distribution.
  • Open/Public Membership with Open Discussions. Anyone can join the group without approval from the Community Lead(s) or Digital.gov, and emails can be distributed to the group without review.

Digital.gov also has a few communities that use other technologies (e.g., Google Groups and Slack) and may require you to complete a form before being added to the list. Please follow the steps noted on the community page to be added to or deleted from the list.

Unsubscribe

To unsubscribe from our LISTSERV lists, please take the following steps:

  1. Open a blank email
  2. Add listserv@listserv.gsa.gov in the “To” line
  3. Put in the body of the email on one line, “signoff [specific LISTSERV name]” (e.g., “signoff BlockchainPublic” or “signoff CONTENT-MANAGERS-L”)
  4. Do not put anything in the subject line as the subject line should be left blank
  5. Remove any other text from the body of your message, including signature blocks
  6. Send the email

You also can check out how to manage your LISTSERV subscription if you just want to get less messages, digests of content, or access an archive of community messages.
