Temporal Connection

A Temporal Connection refers to a trigger span, such as "before" or "during", which signifies that two or more Events occurred within a chronological sequence. The types of Temporal Connections are:

  • before
  • during
  • after
  • encounter

Note that encounter refers to two events that take place in the same Encounter, though not necessarily simultaneously.

Trigger

A phrase such as before, after, or during, or of (if, for example, preceded by 'within 3 days of....).

Examples

Example of 'Temporal Connection' for intraocular surgery *before* presentation (of a condition or disease)

Example of 'Temporal Connection' for ECG *during* baseline evaluation

Arguments

  • Temporal-Connection-Type - The type of temporal connection. These can be:
    • before
    • during
    • after
    • encounter
  • Arg1 - The first Event.
  • Arg2 - The second Event (before, after, during, or in the same encounter as the first).
