Thank you for supporting the GeoTools project. GeoTools project has a good track record with successful use of 2022 budget allocation, addressing technical debt highlighted in our budget request (key library improvements for upgrading to Log4j2).

Budget Request $10,500

  • $500: Operational Budget: $500 - the project has completed its migration from boundless infrastructure reducing operational budget request to the default

  • $10,000: Outstanding Technical Debt and Maintenance activities

To be coordinated with Apache Foundation.

Outstanding Technical Debt and Maintenance activities

The OSGeo issue#142 asks the GeoTools library to look into the use of package org.opengis by the GeoTools project, and estimate level of effort and resources to remove.

This issue highlights the scope of work:

Recommended putting in a budget request of 10k for geotools, and 5k for geowebcache, and 5k for geoserver to cover a similar undertaking. If successful we will still need to ask for in-kind participation for individuals and organizations (even if just to cover their risk).

For more information:

GeoTools Code Sprint participation

GeoTools participation in:

  • The next OSGeo code sprint, so far our community has expressed a preference to attend remotely.

GeoTools code sprint:

  • If the org.opengis removal goes ahead a cross-project sprint will be required for success. Funding would go towards reducing expenses for in-kind participants.

AGM Attendance

We do not for see the need for assistance attending the 2023 AGM. One of our leadership will either be present at the event, or we will appoint a delegate to present on our behalf.
