This table contains references to the supported versions of the System Software. All patch releases (with -p#) will be compatible as long as the have the same major and minor version numbers.

indXcam

The indXcam is an industrial, customized verison of the leanXcam. It employs the same software framework and operating system as the leanXcam. References to the indXcam in documentation and software is not relevant for leanXcam users.

Optics, Lenses

Default optics

By default, leanXcam is equipped with the following lens and lens holder:

Using different optics

Different 12mm optics can be ordered at the following places:

You want to be looking for S-Mount (M12 x 0.5) lenses for a 1/3" (or bigger) sensor . Lenses with a "C" in their product name generally contain an Infrared-Cut filter.

The exact dimensions of the imaging area of the MT9v032 sensor equipped on leanXcam are 4.51mm x 2.88mm. With this information and calculator such as this the angle of view can be calculated. This calculator on the other hand allows you to calculate the required focal length if you know the object size and the distance.

Using C-Mount objectives with leanXcam

Caution! Unconfirmed information!

Edmund Optics features a Male S-Mount to female C-Mount adapter that could potentially be used with leanXcam. Because this adapter adds to the distance between sensor and length, the thread of the lens holder will probably have to shortened manually to be able to focus to distance.

Infrared-Cut filter

Older leanXcams models (1.1d or earlier) came without IR-Cut filter. This enables applications with infrared light. The disadvantage is, that colors might be wrong in sunlight or halogen light. If you want to see realistic colours, you might want to use a lensholder or lens with integrated IR-Cut filter. A lensholder which works fine is the following:

If you order a leanXcam today, it will already be equipped with above lens holder with a 650 nm IR cut filter. If you would like to use the infrared spectrum, you can simply remove the contained filter sheet.
