Midonet 5.1.1 Release Notes
This is the sixth release of the MidoNet project.
The focus of this release is on multi-sites support; many improvements and features are included, see the details in the Features section of the release notes.
Important Note: MidoNet now depends on Java 8.

Those are the platforms that were tested; MidoNet might work with other distributions or Openstack versions, we would love to hear your experience.
MidoNet can be upgraded from 5.0 to 5.1. Note that MidoNet 5.0 is still supported and getting bug fixes. Users whose main concern is stability are advised to use version 5.0.
MidoNet provides VPNaaS support compatible with Neutron implementation. It enables setting up VPNs between tenant of the same or separate Openstack platforms. A VPN can also be established between a client outside of the Openstack platform.
The router peering feature of MidoNet provides overlay connectivity between multiple sites with VXLAN tunneling. The following section describes the Neutron CLI and REST API commands to set up router peering. All of the following operations are executed only by the cloud operator.
The Neutron APIs defined for the router peering feature are not supported by the current upstream implementation of Neutron CLI, so they must be executed by making HTTP requests directly to the Neutron API server.
