MidoNet Blog Usage Guidelines
The MidoNet Blog is part of our more formal or official channels to communicate with the outside world. As such, we follow some guidelines to keep it focused and relevant to even casual readers.
Following, we have three sections about posting on The MidoNet Blog. The first covers the strict rules, that applies to all posts. Afterwards, we'll cover what kind of posts are welcome on the blog. Lastly, we'll show some examples of posts that do not belong on this blog but are welcome on PlanetMidoNet.
All posts to the MidoNet Blog:
- Must be directly related to MidoNet (as the open source project or its software). This includes MidoNet plugins in other software (e.g. OpenStack).
- Must upload - not hotlink - pictures. All pictures need to be uploaded in JPEG, PNG or GIF formats.
- Must only contain publicly accessible links and downloads must come in open formats.
- Must follow our Code Of Conduct.
Furthermore, you're advised to select fitting tags for your post. Note that while all posts on The MidoNet Blog also go to Planet MidoNet, only those tagged ''OpenStack'' also go to Planet OpenStack. Do make use of this tag if it fits your post (i.e. it's relevant to OpenStack) but don't misuse it.
The MidoNet Blog is the right place for the following kind of posts, if they are about MidoNet itself. While this list might not be conclusive, please discuss other ideas at the Community Council Meetings or on the general mailing list before posting.
- Newsletters
- General Announcements
- Release Announcements
- Development Announcements:
- Introduction of new major features
- Roadmaps
- Schedules
- Major Security Alerts
- Event Announcements:
- MidoNet-specific events
- Talks on MidoNet
- Announcements from governing bodies (including new bodies)
Posts that are not a right fit for The MidoNet Blog can still go to Planet MidoNet, if they're otherwise related to MidoNet. To post to Planet MidoNet, you'll have to add your own blog to the planet first, and then post it there. You should also consider posting to this wiki (instead), if your post has long-term value. Just a few examples of such topics:
- Opinions
- Tutorials
- Promotions (except if they fit in the categories in the previous category)
