02 Putting MCU on an SD card
- Download the latest "MCU" Raspberry Pi image here.
- Unzip the downloaded file.
- Install the unzipped "mcu_vX.X.X.img" file onto a micro SD card.
- On Windows, you will use Win32DiskImager to write MCU onto the SD card. Download this software here.
- Install the Win32DiskImager software. Be sure to create a desktop icon.
-
When the software installation is complete, uncheck both "View Readme.txt" and "Launch Win32DiskImager".
-
From your desktop, right-click on the "Win32DiskImager" icon and select "Run as administrator".
-
Open a File Explorer window.
-
Take note of the available File Drives and their corresponding letters.
-
Insert your SD card. You should see the File Explorer window create an additional icon and corresponding letter.
-
In the Win32DiskImager software, select the letter that represents your SD Card. Make sure you have the correct drive for the SD card selected.
-
Click on the folder icon and select the unzipped "mcu_vX.X.X.img" file.
-
In the Win32 Disk Imager software, click on the "Write" button to write the MCU software onto your SD card.
-
Select "Yes" to confirm. Note, this will delete any files currently stored on the SD card. Writing the SD card image should take 5-10 minutes. Go grab some coffee and talk to your dog about the weather.

When the process is complete, a dialog box will pop up saying "Write Successful". Click "Ok".
-
Remove the SD card from your computer.
