02 Putting MCU on an SD card

Burning MCU onto an SD Card

  1. Download the latest "MCU" Raspberry Pi image here.
  2. Unzip the downloaded file.
  3. Install the unzipped "mcu_vX.X.X.img" file onto a micro SD card.
    • On Windows, you will use Win32DiskImager to write MCU onto the SD card. Download this software here.
    • Install the Win32DiskImager software. Be sure to create a desktop icon.
    • When the software installation is complete, uncheck both "View Readme.txt" and "Launch Win32DiskImager".

  4. From your desktop, right-click on the "Win32DiskImager" icon and select "Run as administrator".

  5. Open a File Explorer window.

  6. Take note of the available File Drives and their corresponding letters.

  7. Insert your SD card. You should see the File Explorer window create an additional icon and corresponding letter.

  8. In the Win32DiskImager software, select the letter that represents your SD Card. Make sure you have the correct drive for the SD card selected.

  9. Click on the folder icon and select the unzipped "mcu_vX.X.X.img" file.

  10. In the Win32 Disk Imager software, click on the "Write" button to write the MCU software onto your SD card.

  11. Select "Yes" to confirm. Note, this will delete any files currently stored on the SD card. Writing the SD card image should take 5-10 minutes. Go grab some coffee and talk to your dog about the weather.

  12. When the process is complete, a dialog box will pop up saying "Write Successful". Click "Ok".

  13. Remove the SD card from your computer.
