Block selection in vy is done in the NORMAL mode, there is no mode for block selection. In this way, it is possible to perform some interesting operations quickly.

Drop a block selection mark

Block selection works with a mark as range selection does. In order to drop a block selection mark, switch to NORMAL mode then press:

<Control-V>

It will appear a msg on the statusbar saying that a block selection mark was dropped at the cursor position.

Add/remove block selection one line up

Once a block selection mark was dropped, press the keycommand below in NORMAL mode to add/remove block selection one line up:

<Control-K>

Add/remove block selection one line down

Switch to NORMAL mode then press:

<Control-J>

You need to have first dropped a block selection mark.

Add/remove block selection one char left

This command works as well in NORMAL mode, supposing you have dropped a block selection mark.

Press:

<Control-H>

Add/remove block selection one char right

Make sure you have dropped a block selection mark then press:

<Control-L>
