Version 0.13.0 for LiteLoader 1.8.0

This release of Watson adds a visible cursor for the currently selected position or edit. It also draws a dashed line from the preceding edit to the current selection.

You can step the cursor through consecutive edits using configurable keys (default: Alt+SCROLL_UP and Alt+SCROLL_DOWN) and you can teleport to the cursor with another configurable key (default: Alt+MOUSE_LEFT).

A detailed description of the changes in this release is here.

This release is compatible with the most recent version of the Watson Macro/Keybind Support mod and has also been tested for compatibility with Forge, Schematica, Macro/Keybind, TabbyChat and Optifine.

Installation

Installation procedure:

  1. If you require Minecraft Forge/FML support, then download the recommended Installer from http://files.minecraftforge.net and run that first.
  2. Download the LiteLoader 1.8.0 pre-release installer from the LiteLoader Jenkins build server and run it. If you have already installed Forge, then choose your Forge profile in the "Extend from" drop down list (probably something like 1.8-Forge11.14.1.1419). The LiteLoader installer will create a profile in your Minecraft launcher, typically called "LiteLoader 1.8".
  3. Make a .minecraft/mods/1.8/ folder, where .minecraft/ is your Minecraft installation folder.
  4. Download the Watson .litemod file (the first download link, below) and put it in .minecraft/mods/1.8/.
  5. If you're installing Optifine, then download the JAR file and put that in .minecraft/mods/1.8/ as well. This release of Watson has been tested with OptiFine 1.8.0 HD U D5.

Note that:

  • Watson will not work if you put it in .minecraft/mods/. It must be in the .minecraft/mods/1.8/ folder in order for certain LiteLoader features to work correctly.
  • Regardless of whether you have installed Minecraft Forge or not, run the LiteLoader 1.8 profile in the Minecraft launcher.

Version 0.12.0 for LiteLoader 1.8.0

This release of Watson adds an in-game options GUI, a settings GUI covering some (but currently not all) Watson configuration settings and key bindings to show the in-game GUI and to do /w tp next, /w tp prev, /w pre and /w post.

The key binding mechanism accepts key combinations using Ctrl, Alt and Shift as modifiers of some key, similar to how the Macro/Keybind mod works. I must confess to being unaware that Macro/Keybind mod had already updated. I simply could not find the 1.8 download link for it. Now that I am aware of its existence, I will update the Watson Macro/Keybind Support mod SOON (TM). However, Watson can be productively used with the Macro/Keybind mod right now, except that Watson commands cannot be key bindings. The key binding facility built into Watson covers the most important features of Watson for this purpose.

Note that if you use Watson with the Macro/Keybind mod using the Macro/Keybind example configuration downloadable from the Watson repository, then you should unbind Ctrl + mouse wheel and/or mouse click, as Macro/Keybind will intercept these keystrokes (and do nothing) and prevent Watson from seeing them.

  • A detailed description of the changes in this release is here.
  • Documentation on the in-game GUI is here.
  • Documentation on the settings GUI is here.

This release has been tested for compatibility with Forge, Schematica, Macro/Keybind, TabbyChat and Optifine.

Version 0.11.0 for LiteLoader 1.8.0 (MCP 910)

Choose a tag to compare

This release of Watson is for the latest development builds of LiteLoader 1.8.0, using MCP 910.

The release addresses a bug and three issues:

  • Billboards for ore deposit labels were being drawn with an opaque background. If the background colour is set with a transparent alpha value, the label will now be drawn correctly again.
  • #43 - Ore deposits can now be numbered in strict chronological order, rather than grouping them by type. Use: "/w config time_ordered_deposits on".
  • #27 - Watson now understands dates in the following formats: yyyy-MM-dd (ISO 8601), yy-MM-dd, and MM-dd (the LogBlock default).
  • #11 - The default minimum length of vectors for them to be visible can be set once in the configuration, rather than only being able to be set transiently with "/w vector length <number>". Use: "/w config vector_length <number>".

If Watson is configured to change the output format of LogBlock query results, then you will also notice that the format of "/lb kills" results has changed slightly.

Changes in this release are described here.

Installation

Installation procedure:

  1. If you require Minecraft Forge/FML support, then download the recommended Installer from http://files.minecraftforge.net and run that first. I have not tested with Forge at this stage.

Version 0.10.0 for LiteLoader 1.8.0 (MCP 910)

This release of Watson is for the latest development builds of LiteLoader 1.8.0, using MCP 910. It also addresses CoreProtect 2.11 compatibility. Both of these changes were contributed by @tompreuss in #46. Many thanks to him, yet again.

CoreProtect 2.11 drops support for numeric block identifiers. Watson works by scraping text out of chat, so in order to draw blocks correctly, it must be told very specifically what kind of block something is. Currently CoreProtect describes edits to wool, carpet, stained glass and clay without specifying what colour those blocks are, and consequently Watson arbitrarily picks a colour (white) for those edits. If this concerns you, have a chat to the CoreProtect devs about displaying more detailed information for those blocks.

A pseudo-block ID for armor stand entities (reported as armor_stand by CoreProtect) has been added to res/watson/blocks.yml. Note that if you have made a local version of that file in ~/.minecraft/mods/watson/, it will override the version in the Watson .litemod file.

If you administer a server that runs LogBlock, it is recommended that you install config/LogBlock/materials.yml into the plugins/LogBlock/ directory. That file provides better names for the new blocks and allows Watson to draw them better. However, Watson will still work if you don't do that.

Changes in this release are described here.

Version 0.9.2 for LiteLoader 1.8.0

This release of Watson is for the development builds of LiteLoader 1.8.0. The release fixes some potential rendering issues. Thanks again to @GuntherDW for this patch.

If you administer a server that runs LogBlock, it is recommended that you install config/LogBlock/materials.yml into the plugins/LogBlock/ directory. That file provides better names for the new blocks and allows Watson to draw them better. However, Watson will still work if you don't do that.

If you run CoreProtect or Prism, there may be another release of Watson next weekend to fix any compatibility issues with those plugins (I won't have time to look at them until then).

A huge thank you goes to @GuntherDW for contributing his code which updates Watson for Minecraft 1.8 and the corresponding LiteLoader. An equally huge thank you to @tompreuss for contributing in-game help to the "/w config" command (/w config help) and for implementing visualisation of LogBlock death records (try "/lb kills coords area 20").

Changes in this release are described here.

This release of Watson is for the development builds of LiteLoader 1.8.0. The release adds correct colour and shape information for the new blocks in 1.8. It is otherwise identical to 0.9.0.108-mc1.8.0.

If you administer a server that runs LogBlock, it is recommended that you install config/LogBlock/materials.yml into the plugins/LogBlock/ directory. That file provides better names for the new blocks and allows Watson to draw them better. However, Watson will still work if you don't do that.

This release updates Watson for the development builds of LiteLoader 1.8.0.

This is a pre-release and has undergone minimal testing (by me) so far. It lacks definitions for new blocks added in Minecraft 1.8 and these will appear as magenta cubes. I will update to 0.9.1, with support for the new blocks, on the weekend.

Changes in this release are described here.
