This release of Watson adds an in-game options GUI, a settings GUI covering some (but currently not all) Watson configuration settings and key bindings to show the in-game GUI and to do /w tp next, /w tp prev, /w pre and /w post.

The key binding mechanism accepts key combinations using Ctrl, Alt and Shift as modifiers of some key, similar to how the Macro/Keybind mod works. I must confess to being unaware that Macro/Keybind mod had already updated. I simply could not find the 1.8 download link for it. Now that I am aware of its existence, I will update the Watson Macro/Keybind Support mod SOON (TM). However, Watson can be productively used with the Macro/Keybind mod right now, except that Watson commands cannot be key bindings. The key binding facility built into Watson covers the most important features of Watson for this purpose.

Note that if you use Watson with the Macro/Keybind mod using the Macro/Keybind example configuration downloadable from the Watson repository, then you should unbind Ctrl + mouse wheel and/or mouse click, as Macro/Keybind will intercept these keystrokes (and do nothing) and prevent Watson from seeing them.

  • A detailed description of the changes in this release is here.
  • Documentation on the in-game GUI is here.
  • Documentation on the settings GUI is here.

This release has been tested for compatibility with Forge, Schematica, Macro/Keybind, TabbyChat and Optifine.

Installation

Installation procedure:

  1. If you require Minecraft Forge/FML support, then download the recommended Installer from http://files.minecraftforge.net and run that first.
  2. Download the LiteLoader 1.8.0 pre-release installer from the LiteLoader Jenkins build server and run it. If you have already installed Forge, then choose your Forge profile in the "Extend from" drop down list (probably something like 1.8-Forge11.14.1.1419). The LiteLoader installer will create a profile in your Minecraft launcher, typically called "LiteLoader 1.8".
  3. Make a .minecraft/mods/1.8/ folder, where .minecraft/ is your Minecraft installation folder.
  4. Download the Watson .litemod file (the first download link, below) and put it in .minecraft/mods/1.8/.
  5. If you're installing Optifine, then download the JAR file and put that in .minecraft/mods/1.8/ as well. This release of Watson has been tested with OptiFine 1.8.0 HD U D5.

Note that:

  • Watson will not work if you put it in .minecraft/mods/. It must be in the .minecraft/mods/1.8/ folder in order for certain LiteLoader features to work correctly.
  • Regardless of whether you have installed Minecraft Forge or not, run the LiteLoader 1.8 profile in the Minecraft launcher.
