#Using Interactive Preview Rendering (IPR)

RenderMan Studio for Maya must be installed in order to use IPR, as the 'it' viewer is part of that installation. Please refer to the installation instructions for how to install RenderMan Studio for Maya.

#Starting an IPR session
Look for the 'Start Interactive Mode' button on the 3D scene window (it can usually be found in the upper right hand corner). If you are using a small monitor screen, you may need to scroll the bar to reveal the button. When the mode is launched, the 'it' viewer will open and the image will begin to render.

#Ending an IPR session
The mode remains active until either the 'it' window is manually closed (which will often crash Blender as well) or the 'Stop Session' button is pressed on the 3D view menu bar (this button replaces the 'Start' button when IPR is active). #Changing the IPR quality settings
The image quality of the IPR session is set through the main rendering options tab. The resolution is set through the same slider that controls the resolution of the final render. The sample, bounce and pixel variance counts are set independently however. They can be found by ticking the arrow in the 'Interactive Preview Rendering' box.
