EU4 To Vic2: Diplomacy

Idhrendur edited this page Mar 16, 2016 · 8 revisions

Diplomatic relations are determined based on the EU4 diplomatic relationships. The relationship values should be directly converted between games. However, due to what seems to be a bug, all relationship values get set to zero.

Alliances, personal unions, and guarantees carry straight over from EU4 to Vic2. However, personal unions do not have any effect in Vic2, and guarantees fo not seem to have any effect.

Vassals in EU4 become satellites in Vic2. However, all marches will instead be absorbed. Colonies have a liberty desire set based on their attitude, and if this is above the threshold set in the converter's configuration, they will be satellites on conversion. Otherwise, they will be absorbed.

Colony Attitude Liberty Desire
Rebellious 95%
Disloyal 90%
Outraged 85%
Rivalry 80%
Hostile 75%
Threatened 65%
Neutral 50%
Defensive 35%
Domineering 20%
Protective 15%
Allied 10%
Friendly 10%
Loyal 5%
Overlord 5%
Vassal (pre-1.14) 5%

EU4 vassals, personal unions, and protectorates are placed in their ruling country's sphere of influence in Vic2. As well, royal marriages and guarantees increase the relationship value by one each. A royal marriage or a guarantee would thus make the subject nation Cordial, and both would make it Friendly.
