Web Accessibility Requirements

Requirement Set Name: Web Accessibility

Description: Web accessibility requirements. Here are a few requirements based on the WCAG 2 guidelines. Requirements presented below pertain to the content of the web page. Some requirements, such as time-based media and so forth, will not be included due to the nature of the project.

Requirements:

  • Provide text alternatives for any non-text content. (Success Criterion 1.1.1).
  • Content should be able to be presented in different ways. (Success Criterion 1.3.1).
  • Display content separating foreground from background more obvious. (Success Criterion 1.4.1). For example, using color to distinguish text from background.
  • User interface components and navigation must be operable. (2. Operable, also see Navigation Requirements.)
  • Do not design content in a way that is known to cause seizures or physical reactions. (Guideline 2.3 Seizures and Physical Reactions)
  • Provide ways to help users navigate, find content, and determine where they are. (Guideline 2.4 Navigable, also see Navigation Requirements).
  • Make Web pages appear and operate in predictable ways (Guideline 3.2 Predictable). All pages of the website deal with poetry.
  • All pages should be able to be interpreted with current or future gadgets. (Guideline 4.1 Compatible).
