Ubuntu & Derivatives

IMPORTANT NOTICE

(Big thank you to ShneekyTheLost for reporting this problem in #595)

Due to a dependency change upstream, SteamTinkerLaunch requires Ubuntu 21.04 or later. Ensure your distribution is up to date, and if your distribution is based on Ubuntu ensure that it is based on Ubuntu 21.04 or later.

SteamTinkerLaunch's GUI is written with the Yad toolkit. This toolkit now depends on glibc version 2.34 (or later if you're reading this in the future). Unfortunately Ubuntu 20.04 and below do not package an up-to-date version of this dependency, and so SteamTinkerLaunch will only work on Ubuntu 21.04 or later. Distributions based on Ubuntu must be based on Ubuntu 21.04 or later (such as Mint 21).

Please make sure you are using an up-to-date version of Ubuntu or an Ubuntu-based distribution before reporting issues, as we cannot do anything about this newer glibc version dependency for Yad.

Installation

There are numerous ways to install SteamTinkerLaunch on Ubuntu and its derivatives (Pop!_OS, Linux Mint, etc). As of v2.7.3, ProtonUp-Qt has support for installing SteamTinkerLaunch. See our ProtonUp-Qt wiki page for details. Keep in mind that you will still have to meet SteamTinkerLaunch's Hard Dependencies!

For Pacstall and manual installation steps, see the Installation wiki. Keep in mind that manual installation should be treated as a last resort and is quite a bit more involved than the other installation methods.
