My Journey started with the wife out shopping and she thought it would be nice to have colored bulbs in the living room!
So a Phillips Hue bridge and three colored bulbs were brought home.
Well that was ok since we mostly left the table lamps on most of the time and she would activate the built in hue scenes once and a while but then she started buying white ambiance bulbs and motion sensors from Hue.
Thats when this journey started and has not ended.
Those three lights have grown into a number I don't care to count as you can see in a screenshot in the Lights section
The first problem was I didn't like the static times they would change from a "bright white" to "yellow" in the hue app and they never fit the mode the house was in. What i mean by this I wake up alot earlier than my wife and and only certain lights should come on and the brightness and transition time should be different. So we bought a alexa dot and thought that would solve the problem of picking up the phone. But we were not happy. The house was not smart it just did what we told it too thru alexa.
So I found Home Assistant and the community and have not looked back
So in this rest of this wiki I will try to guide you through my devices/platforms that i use and why. I use a type of configuration called Packages and files are generally by room, device, or purpose. I will split up rooms when the code gets too long. For example My Blinds are automated but they are in one package instead of each room. Just to make it more readable
