At the center of Recidiviz is our data platform providing a common, extensible foundation for understanding criminal justice systems. It includes a system for the ingestion of individual- and aggregate-level records from different source data systems. We normalize, link, and validate raw incoming data to create a standardized data layer from which common analytics can be performed.

Atop this platform, we and our partners build products to power research at scale, inform decision-making, motivate policy changes, and monitor impact.

By breaking down data silos and composing a connected dataset that spans the justice system, we are able to track outcomes and perform analysis with the depth, breadth, and freshness needed to power reform of American criminal justice.

The documentation in this wiki describes the platform, including its architecture, data schemas, methodology, and development. The documentation should be considered living: suggestions, bug reports, and improvements are always welcome. Reach out to inquiries@recidiviz.org with comments or questions!
