Bee Forest

This is a small project containing a top-down RPG game level design with the following mechanics:

  • Character animation
  • Top-down movement
  • Creation of maps with tilesets and palettes
  • UI interface with attributes
  • Enemy and combat mechanics
  • Endpoint-based enemy movement
  • LevelUP
  • Distribution of attributes

The Game

Bee Forest is a small game where you need to help the character Torma bring seven honeycombs to a greedy bear that is blocking the path. Yes, getting that bear out of there is the only way to get out of the forest. Collect the seven pots of honey getting rid of the small bees that fly through the forest and of course, one of the pots is under the protection of a giant bee. Use the 'a', 'w', 'd' and 's' keys on your keyboard to move the weight, the right mouse button to attack and 'c' to see attributes.

  • LevelUP and Attribute Distribution: Implementation of a progression system, allowing players to level up and distribute attributes to customize their character.

Game Writing

Torma is a determined young warrior who belonged to the Zephyros Clan, known for his unique skill in handling swords and for his strong connection with nature. The Zephyros were warriors who believed that harmony with their surroundings strengthened their combat abilities. Torma had always dreamed of standing out among the members of the clan and, to that end, he decided to seek experiences beyond the borders of his territory. One day, Torma decided to explore a magical forest known as the Bee Forest. He believed that this journey would help him improve as a warrior and gain new skills. However, upon entering the forest, Torma soon realized that it would not be an easy journey. The forest was filled with swarms of bees, and he found himself lost among the towering trees. The only escape route was blocked by an imposing bear, guardian of the passage. After unsuccessful attempts to get around the animal, Torma realized that the only way to advance was to face a peculiar challenge. The bear was a wise and demanding creature. Torma approached respectfully and explained his purpose in the forest. The bear, in turn, revealed that the passage would only be released if Torma managed to gather seven honeycombs from the golden bees that inhabited the forest. Determined to overcome this challenge, Torma faced the swarms with courage and skill. He used his agility to dodge the poisonous stings, his dexterity to avoid the frenzied buzzing sounds, and his strength to gather the honeycombs. Each honeycomb conquered represented a victory over the forest's natural challenges. After facing several adversities, Torma finally managed to gather the seven golden honeycombs. He returned to the Bear, offered the honeycombs as proof of his courage and determination, and the gigantic bear ran out of the passage, allowing Torma to continue on his way. As he crossed the now clear passage, Torma felt a rush of realization and gratitude. He understood that each challenge on the journey was not only a test of his combat skills, but also an opportunity to grow as an individual and connect more deeply with the world around him. Torma continued his quest for adventure, now armed not only with enhanced combat skills, but also with wisdom gained through the lessons of the enchanted forest. He carried with him gratitude for the bear and the memory that, to become a true warrior, one had to respect and understand the forces of nature.
