Working group status: active since February 2024
The accessible image model working group was created improve the accessibility of images in Wagtail.

We meet as-needed to discuss progress and next steps. In-between meetings, we collaborate via Slack in the #a11y-image-model-working-group channel.
Membership is open to all. Are you interested in lending us your expertise? Come say hi on Slack!
Specifically, the working group has the following goals:
- To make it easier for site implementers to create accessible sites, by making contextual alt text a first class feature in Wagtail
- RFC 51: Contextual alt text embodies our plan to make this happen
- Document accessibility best practices surrounding images to help site implementers build accessible sites
- To improve the accessibility of the Wagtail admin interface, in particular the image chooser
The working group consists of the following members:
