List here examples of the difference between a hardware DX7 and Dexed. This is used as examples to help refine Dexed Mark I engine.

  1. On DX7 sound goes completely away when Mod Wheel is at 0, on Dexed it's just quieter
  2. Dexed reaches Sustain phase faster than DX7
  3. Operators 3/4: Beating is slower in lower register
  4. Different timbre
  5. Different overtones and movements between Dexed and DX7 (play staccato in high register)
  6. The DX7 displays a buzziness which Dexed, regardless of chosen sound engine, doesn't have. This unclean buzziness is quite sexy, though. (play long bass note)
  7. envelope times are different
  8. Operators 4/6: Dexed has more overtones than the more mellow sounding DX7, making it sound more "digital" (yes, I know...)
  9. this sound doesn't work at all in Dexed
  10. differences when using Mark I or Modern sound engine
  11. same sound as above: Modern sounds closer to original :-)
