The URL https://riscv.org/software-status/ doesn't work anymore and
for all modern distros, the supplied tools will work just fine. I
suspect most will find this the easier path.

Ah bugger. I only now noticed that make -C dhrystone TOOLCHAIN_PREFIX=riscv64-unknown-elf- does not work. I don't immediately see a way to fix that on Ubuntu without building the tools myself (or installing a 3rd package).
