The Facebook pixel is used to track website activity and run ads based on that activity.

Here's all you need to know on the Facebook Pixel:

1. Facebook Pixel ID Your pixel ID is the unique number assigned to your Facebook pixel. You can use this number in your pixel base code.

2. Pixel Base Code The pixel base code tracks activity on your website, providing a baseline for measuring specific events. Copy the base code below and paste it between the header tags on every page of your website:

3. Event Code The Event code lets us track specific actions that happen and leverage them in advertising. Install event code on specific pages of your website where the actions will happen.

You can use the 9 standard events that Facebook pre-defines to track and optimize ads for conversions. To measure and optimize for more granular actions, you can add parameters to your events by using recommended or advanced installation options for your event tags. You can also create custom events for actions important to the website that you define. There are three implementation settings: basic, recommended, and advanced.

4. Check Pixel Status Go to Facebook Ads Manager and select Pixels from the top menu. If the status is Active, your pixel has been installed correctly. It may take up to 20 minutes for your pixel status to change after installing it.

If your pixel status reports No Activity Yet, your pixel isn't working. Download the Pixel Helper to get more information, or get guidance on installing your pixel.

5. How to access the Facebook Pixel. The Pixel is ad account specific and can be accessed through the Code for Africa, Business Manager ad account on Facebook.
