Publication - illustration

It illustrates that a Publication contains:

  • metadata
  • primary resources, with a default reading order, i.e. sequenced as a "spine". The user can move back and forth in this sequence via next / previous actions.
  • secondary resources, necessary for the display of the primary resources; a secondary resource may be shared by several primary resources.
  • an optional table of contents, which acts as a compass for navigating in the publication; entries may reference the inner content of a resource (use case = html pages) or the resource itself (use case = svg resources or images); not all primary resources are necessary present in the table of contents. ToCs with imaginative presentations (see ToC-Samples) are supported.
  • optionally, other indexes or "tables" may be authored, like a table of illustrations, a glossary etc. They may be included in the ToC, or not.
