Naming convention

Michal Bocek edited this page Nov 9, 2016 · 7 revisions

Name of the project

  • The project is named Preupgrade Assistant. This name should be used in an official written texts like Knowledge Base articles, emails, marketing materials or documentation.
  • The rpm package is named preupgrade-assistant. This name should be used only in a context regarding the package, not the project as a whole. For example man pages, READMEs or package data should be stored in a path containing /preupgrade-assistant/. It should also be used in places, where space is not allowed, like in URL.
  • preupg is the name for the executable and also for the python module installed by the preupgrade-assistant package.
  • Using partial abbreviations like preup or preupgrade should be avoided as much as possible in official communication channels, except #preupgrade IRC channel as a matter of legacy.
