This is the next version of TART.

It features fibre connections between basestation and the radio hubs. Each radio hub can socket up to 24 radios, and there can be up to 4 radio hubs for a total of 96 receivers. The fibre connections can have a maximum distance of around 100m.

It has the following components:

  • Updated radio front end with 2-bit I/Q sampling.
  • Radio Hub with 24 Radio Front Ends. The FPGA configures each at startup.
  • Basestation with Artix 7 FPGA and 4 GTP bidirectional fibre connections. 1GB DDR memory as a buffer. USB3 connectivity to the host.

Basic Version

The basic version will consist of at basestation with clock, a single 24-element radio hub. This should have slightly better performance than the TART 2. We hope to keep the cost to approximately EUR 1500.

Full Version

This would have all four radio hubs fully populated. 96 receivers, and correlation done in real-time by the basestation FPGA. The maximum baseline will be approximately 200 meters.
