About Us

Octue is an Open-Source Software organisation. Our mission is to make scientists and engineers working in renewables/climate 10x more effective - by providing them with the right tools for working with data.

• We focus on the renewable energy and climate sectors, and are beginning to have significant impact across the Wind industry due to our digitalisation work.

• We have been recognised as a "Gamechanger" by the UK Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult for our work on digital twins.

• We work with renewable energy equipment manufacturers and operators, engineering consultancies, survey companies and climate scientists in academia.

Our Tools

Twined

Our open-source Twined framework allows you to wrap existing scientific analysis software and turn it into highly scalable, cloud-based data services. Twined:

• ✅ Eliminates the need for building APIs
• ✅ Provides a 'question-update-answer' pattern that's highly suited to running scientific analysis problems
• ✅ Provides an opinionated way of hosting and communicating between data services so you don't have to think about it
• ✅ Provides advanced tools for cloud infrastructure management
• ✅ Allows you to provide your data service to other teams or organisations with a clear and easy to use interface

Others

We also maintain a wide range of other OSS libraries and supporting services, particularly surrounding the use of JSONSchema for data description, the use of django as a web server framework and the visualisation/access/management of data.

Funding

The way we fund our OSS development is through technical partnerships and individual sponsorships (eg to solve particular issues or add specific features).

Other offerings

Octue is also a busy consultancy offering strategic advice, roadmapping, whitelabeled software development and other practical support to those wanting to build out their digital capability and services.
