Lets use Apache License 2.0
Otherwise this software can not be used by many companies and can not be included to distributions.
Apache License 2.0 is the most popular open-source license

I myself think choosing Apache 2.0 instead is ok although I'm not sure about historical matters on Scalatra project. What do you think about changing license? @rossabaker @dozed

BTW, your license file looks Hive project's one?

I updated the PR with the license text from the Appendix http://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0

The current license seems to be the Simplified BSD License/FreeBSD License (2-clause).

@apivovarov Where do you read that it isnt possible to include the library .jar in a distribution? Or what other concerns do you have?

The main diff btw the licenses in Patent Grant aspect

The apache license seems like a lawyer rewrote the BSD license

What I'm unsure of is whether we need approval from all previous contributors to relicense. If that's necessary, I would say the project has too many dormant contributors to make that a feasible exercise. Otherwise, I'm not opposed.

Thank you all. I'm not particular about the license. Both of BSD and Apache 2.0 are fine for me.

2.4.0 development has taken a lot of time. We should publish 2.4.0 soon without more further change than ones in my announcement on the official site. So I'd like to go with current license at least for 2.4.x series. Relicensing in 2.5.x or 3.x still can be possible.
