InterSpec version 1.0.11 adds a number of new features and capabilities, many improvements, and a good amount of bug fixes.

Most of the added features were user requested, as were many of the improvements and bug fixes - thank you for these!

Major features include:

  • A number of improvements to the “Reference Photopeaks” tab, including a "more info" button that will give you more information about the nuclide, including relevant analyst notes for about 100 of the most common nuclides. Cascade sum peak lines, and displaying alpha/beta end-point energies have been added, as have showing recently displayed nuclides, and nuclides identified by the detectors on-board RID algorithm.
  • The maps tool has been re-written and much improved.
  • An “Isotopics by peaks” tool has been added, which uses Relative Efficiency analysis to help determine the activity ratio of nuclides or material enrichments, without requiring detector response, geometry, or shielding knowledge. More info here
  • For the Windows version of InterSpec, a new “WebView2” build is available that uses the HTML renderer built into Windows (i.e., the Edge browser WebView); this allows reducing the InterSpec distribution size, memory consumption, and application startup time. The "Electron" version of the application will continue to be maintained/released.

  • For Windows 10 and 11 users, the "InterSpec-win32-x64_WebView2_v1.0.11_0.zip" build is recommended; may also work on Windows 7 (64-bit) if the Edge runtime is installed. If you do not have the Edge browser runtime installed (most Windows 10 and all Windows 11 users should), or you experience issues, the "InterSpec-win32-x64_Electron_v1.0.11_0.zip" build can be used.
  • The macOS build requires 10.13 (High Sierra) or newer.
  • The Linux build work on Ubuntu 14 and newer.
  • For iOS, please use the App Store to install.
  • Updated build for Android is not yet available.
