Digiplay Laravel

This is the rewrite of digiplay using the Laravel library (details below). This is an ongoing project, if you wish to contribute look at the current issues and help out!

Development Site

Laravel have made it easy to setup a development site using a virtual machine. Read the homestead guide for details on how to setup your local build. Homestead already has postgresql installed so no extra installation is needed. You will also need to install the PHP ldap module. To setup your environment copy the file .env.example and name the copy .env. Laravel uses this for its environment variables. Once this is done ssh into the virtual machine and run npm install and composer update.

Database Setup

To setup the database first login to the homestead server using vargrant ssh from the homestead directory. Then login to postgresql (assuming default logins are used) using psql -U homestead -h localhost and then run CREATE DATABASE digiplay; to create the database.

You then need to get a copy of the digiplay database. This can be obtained by running pg_dump -U <digiplay username> -h localhost <digiplay database> > output.sql on the digiplay server. Then, once you have a copy of the output on the homestead server, you can run psql -U homestead -h localhost digiplay < output.sql on the homestead server and that will create your database ready to go.
