This is the "big breaking" release. In contrast to earlier plans, this will be released as v2.0.0 to facilitate the transition from the client library as we know it (soon to be released as v1.0.0).

Note that issues in this milestone will be closed once they are addressed in the dev-v2 branch. Eventually, that branch will be merged into master, but only once it has reached a usable state and no breaking changes are expected anymore.
