There was some additional padding on the masthead that forced the site's navigation to wrap to two lines on the home page but not on the other pages. This has been fixed.

I wasn't a huge fan of the yellow I had initially decided to use. This one is a lot warmer. The homepage layout is also dramatically improved by making everything yellow! The whole theme feels a lot more cohesive now. And I really hope you like it :)

This release improves the hover/focus state of links in the post list and site navigation. It also increases the contrast for the <h2> tag in the masthead to bring it in line with the WCAG 2.1 standards for colour contrast.

I'm excited to announce that release 0.6.0 of the Hitchens themes is ready for production!

This release adds a skip navigation link and other accessibility improvements, as well as a new DuckDuckGo-powered search bar. I chose DuckDuckGo because of their stance on privacy and have been using this custom search bar on my own site since 2012.

I'm always interested in your feedback, so please file any issues you notice as you use the theme. The theme is offered as-is with no warranty, but I do intend to continue supporting it to the best of my abilities :)

I look forward to seeing what you do with the Hitchens theme!

Thanks to @bmann for submitting the first 2 user-generated issues for the Hitchens theme :) This release addresses issues #10 and #11.

I think we might be getting close to ready for production!

Pre-release

Decided to do one more release before releasing this for production. This release:

  1. Introduces RSS and JSON feeds
  2. Adds apple touch icon and favicon
  3. Updates the README with Quick Start instructions

Title-less posts, excerpts, improved navigation, and bug fixes

Barring any showstoppers, this is planned to be the final pre-release before the theme is ready for production. It introduces features that will make this theme micro-blog friendly including title-less posts and excerpt truncation settings. It also improves the site's navigation and fixes some bugs missed in the previous two releases.

Any one interested in testing it can do so by following the instructions provided in the repository's README file.
