Yep, this is actually an issue we saw at the kickoff when we helped some people install handsim via debs. They are in the gazebo_models repo but not the database.

I may be mistaken then, I thought gazebo gets them from the page I mentioned. For example wooden_peg is grabbed from here... Were you able to deduce which models are missing the model.tar.gz file?

oh sorry, I didn't look closely at the models index page--looks like the arat models are there. It's possible the issue I was seeing was related to handsim debs, not gazebo_models. I'll put this on hold until we do more testing with handsim packaging.
