Frequently asked questions about TeslaUSB

General Tips

  • You don't need to start over from scratch to update teslausb. It is usually enough to rerun setup by ssh-ing into the Pi, and then:
    sudo -i
    /root/bin/setup-teslausb upgrade

(if the above tells you unknown command: upgrade, try running /root/bin/setup-teslausb selfupdate first)
  • It is best to not use all available space for recordings and music, but to leave plenty of free space instead. Teslausb can make use of that free space to keep more than one hour of "recent" recordings. Specifying a 'CAM_SIZE' of 30G is enough for an hour of recent recordings (the most the car will keep), plus several hours of Sentry mode or manually saved recordings. If you are away from home/wifi for extended periods of time and accumulate lots of Sentry videos during that time, you could consider increasing the size somewhat.
