Could be specific to Pixel 7. It's working perfectly fine on Pixel 6, same Android build. |
Hi! My P7P is also on UDC Beta2 but I'm still able to register the IMS. Did you try resetting network settings? |
Hi. I have a Pixel 6, running UPB2.230407.019 and ims is not registering anymore. It was working fine on previous builds |
Have you tested an actual call? It says Unregistered within the app (and also in the INFO menu), but the actual services work fine (at least in my case). I feel like this could be a bug with Android rather than the Pixel IMS app. I could be wrong though. |
Yes. Unfortunately indoors i rely on VoWifi because my reception is very poor. The VoLTE seems to be working fine. I didn't have issues on previous beta builds. |
It's not supposed to show up in the APN list. It's hidden. Don't worry about that. Just make sure the actual settings are correct. |
Glad to hear that. :) It still doesn't show up on my phone (I think APN Type needs to be: ims, otherwise it shows up in the list), but the important thing is that you managed to get it working. |
Nice! Didn't know it's case sensitive (looks like it is). But anyway, if it works, that's all that matters! :)) |
Did you try to replicate the settings in my screenshots exactly? It works fine for me. And it's not displayed in the list. |
Yes, i tried making a call, and couldn't. After i filled everything in CAPS (not just the apn name), it did work, and it is working ever since. The caps, could have something to do with the operator... I don't know, but for me it worked |
Weird...maybe the issue is on the carrier side...? Is everything activated on their side? Just an idea, of course. |
Yeah, that too! Forgot about this feature! Thank you for mentioning it! |
Thanks for the tips. Apparently It's not interested to register here for some reason I'll drop the config dump here for future reference KEY_4G_ONLY_BOOL: false |
i can't make it work on my pixel 7 pro, is it because i have android 14 (stable version) or what should i do? i tried everything and i saw some guys said it was working for them on Vodafone Romania |
Salut! Voda Ro should work fine, if you have everything configured. Did it work with Android 13? If not...I'm guessing you might need to ask the carrier to enable everything on the SIM card first. So it's definitely NOT because of Android 14 stable. There should be default support for it since June. Although some services might not work at first (like 5G or VoWIFI). Check your carrier settings under Settings > Network & Internet > SIM > your carrier (Vodafone) > Carrier Settings Version It should be something like vodafone_ro-.... If the version is newer than June...in theory it should work. Of course, VoLTE needs to be enabled in Settings, too. But that's obvious. :) |
Did you try to call Vodafone and have everything activated on the account first? The app only allows you to switch on/off VoLTE and VoWIFI. But if the service is not enabled for your account, it won't work. |
5G works fine, i just don't use it all the time because it uses more battery, i think i will try to call them and ask them what's happening, thank you, i will come back when i have the answer, i don't think they work today tho. |
I think they do... But you can just try. :) Also, if you're not in a well covered area, or, as you said, you want to save battery, turning 5G off is definitely gonna help. Too bad they don't add these features in My Vodafone or something, so you can enable it yourself. I'm surprised VoLTE is not already enabled... It is already enabled for Orange. But anyway, you can enable it with Pixel IMS app. Only thing it needs to be first enabled by the carrier. |
so i called them and asked them to activate it and they did it, now it's working alright although a strange thing is that if i open the phone app and type the code ##4636## then i go into phone information and ims service status, the VoLTE says its unavailable although it is working, thank you for helping me! |
That might be an Android bug. The important thing is that it works now! I'm guessing you had to enable the options for VoLTE and VoWIFI in the menu, right? Looks like they were missing before. Of course, you still need them enabled by the carrier. But as you saw, that can be solved with a simple call. :) Anyway, I'm happy that you managed to get it sorted out! |
i enabled them with pixel ims, then they appeard in my menu, i am on stable version because beta 2 from qpr was draining battery too much, beta 1 was better for me in terms of battery |
Oh, I see... I'm on QPR Beta 2 now. Haven't noticed much of a difference in battery life compared to Beta 1. But it could be just my light use. Anyway, it must have been a real pain in the "bottom" to go back to Android 14 stable from Beta. Google doesn't like downgrades. Not even a little bit. I know cause I was on QPR Beta 1, and, to get to stable Android 14 (got back to Beta in the meantime), I had to first go back to Android 13, then upgrade to 14. I mean...I don't understand why, but, with Pixel's loooooong time upgrading (the "optimization" part takes longer than the actual system install), it took me a good couple of hours to complete everything. |
it is a pain, i had a google one backup for some things in my phone and i had to reset my phone 3 times and wait for the optimization thing, cause first time i forgot to leave the beta, second time i didn't know that i need to use the backup from the start of the phone when u configure it, and the battery in beta 2 was very bad, i had 70% when i left my home with my gf (she has a 14 pro and was 100% charged) and i lost 13% while she lost only 4% and she even used it more than i did |
LOL... Would that be a sign that you should probably get an iPhone....? :))) I'm kidding, of course. I've got an iPhone 12, as well. I just can't choose one over the other. I like them both. For different reasons and different use cases. But as a Mac user, iOS is definitely the best choice. And if you like tinkering, and you want to have the latest Android version on the same day they're released....definitely Android, and only Pixel. So...yeah. I'm "wearing" both iOS and Android. And even an old Nokia 6310i. For the nostalgia. :)) |
i still like my p7 pro and if they resolve the problems with weaker cpu's and battery in the future i will stay with pixel team, although i like iphones too, it's just that i like pixels a little bit more |
Hi. After updating Pixel 7 Pro to Android 14, the switch to enable Backup Calling in sim card settings is missing. in Pixel IMS the Enable backup calling switch is enabled for all sim cards. |
Same here :-( |
It seems that in android 14 the behavior of the keys |
I've figured out the problem. Indeed, in Android 14, Google disabled the "Backup calling" setting for Pixel. For "Backup calling" to work, you need to activate the option for the corresponding SIM card in Pixel IMS, turn on the internet on the internet donor SIM, and turn on the "Switch mobile internet automatically" option on the SIM card for which you need "Backup calling". |
Indeed, that's what I did to get it working after tinkering for a while. The only issue is that the sim card where you want Backup Calling on needs to disconnect from the mobile network to work, which it is counterintuitive as hell. |
I should still try it with roaming, but it's no longer relevant to Pixel IMS I think. |
Indeed, this goes beyond Pixel IMS. It's about the logic of the OS that is messed up. |
My instruction for Polish Orange + Pixel 7 Pro + Android v14
You may also re-enable wifi calling option in sim settings. |
Yep, that's how you get it to work. Just don't forget to remove your phone number from the second screenshot. :) |
After enrollment to android QPR the VOWIFI stopped working and IMS always shows Unregistered @arsradu @Levilee2k6 Thanks a lot for this trick, it solved my issue Note: it works after using caps for everything Regards, |
I have the pixel 8 with android 14, vowifii is enable and also I added the APN, but still wifi callings are not working for me, I got the message turn off airplane mode or connect to a wireless network to make a call but Im connected to a wifi conection.. My SIM card works well with wifi call in another android device. as abdgeo suggested, I used cap for everything when I added the APN. Any suggestion to fix this problem. |
Your carrier probably hasn't implemented wifi calling, despite the phone reporting as connected. You'll need to ask your carrier to add this. |
Just wondering, did you get it working at all in the end? |
@kyujin-cho I wonder If you could enable VoLTE on your new "Google Pixel 8" with latest update "14.0.0 (AP1A.240505.005, May 2024)" ? |
Capitalisation of IMS definitely matters, in fact when I use lowercase ims I get an Android error saying my carrier doesn't support ims. You can also do comma separated values I think like: default,IMS |
Hey guys, That's off-topic, but by any chance do not you know which flag in Expert mode allows connection to private PLMNs?
