Hi there 👋

My name is Jon-Luke West. I am a designer, an engineer, and a tech wizard 🧙 I create technology that is intuitive to use, humanist in intent, and accessible by everyone.

I'm the director of engineering at HomeSeer. We work to build automation systems through an easy to use platform for every home owner, providing experiences that are secure, reliable, and extensible. We offer an open-source plugin SDK you can use to extend the HomeSeer platform to do whatever you can dream of. Check us out and join the community!

I am also a programming teacher with courses on Android and Java development. Check them out on LinkedIn Learning

  • Java with JSON
    • In this course, we go over the use of data serialization/deserialization, the way JSON acts as the format, the syntax of JSON, how to read and write JSON in an application, and additional ways you can control the way data is handled.
  • Distributing Your Android App for Kotlin Developers
    • So you’ve built an Android app, and you’re ready to share it with the world. Now what? There are many ways you can distribute your app, and in this course, we show you how to use the primary distribution channel, the Google Play Store, as well as the Amazon Appstore.
  • Android Development: Retrofit with Java
    • This course explains how to use Retrofit to connect an Android app to the cloud. We review the basics of web communication with REST APIs and the methods for reading and writing data to the cloud.
  • Android Development Essential Training: Distributing Apps with Java
    • Once you've created an Android app, it's time to share it with the world. Luckily, there are many avenues to distribution. This course focuses on the two primary channels: Google Play and the Amazon Appstore.
  • Android App Development: Enterprise Integration
    • Offering enterprise integration options can open untapped opportunities for your apps. This course shows you how to leverage your existing Android development skills and build apps for this valuable market.
