About The Project

Abstact:

After the lockdown , ott platforms got a big boost , and one such popular streaming platform is Netflix. To better understand user behavior and content popularity, we collected a dataset with information like movie name, cast, type, and ratings. Using data mining techniques, we were able to evaluate patterns and extract relevant information from it. This allows us to make informed decisions about content strategy and improve the user experience on the platform.

About The Dataset:

• Netflix is one of the most popular media and video streaming platforms. They have over 8000 movies or tv shows available on their platform, as of mid-2021, they have over 200M Subscribers globally. This tabular dataset consists of listings of all the movies and tv shows available on Netflix, along with details such as - cast, directors, ratings, release year, duration, etc.

• Understanding what content is available in different countries
• what is the most popular rating in movies/Tv shows?
• Network analysis of Actors / Directors and find interesting insights
• Does Netflix has more focus on TV Shows than movies in recent years.
• What type of Content is Popular in India
• what is the most genre in the data set movies/Tvshows ?
• In which year has been released largest number of movies/Tvshows?
• Which month has the most releases ?

Findings :

• The number of Movies are much more than TV shows released overall
• The percentage of movies released are highest in USA out of total percentage of movies in other countries
• Highest releases as per country basis is in USA
• Dramas and International Movies are the most popular genre followed by documentries
• In TV Shows Categories KIDS TV is most popular choice
• IN 2021 the TV Shows are more than Movie released but year below than 2021 , there is a opposite trend
• The number of releases are also lesser in 2021 than the other corrosponding years
• Highest number of movies are released in 2018 and afterwards there is a downwards trend with increasing year
• Stand-up Comedy is popular choice for most of directors
• TV-MA is most popular rating
• In year 2021 , most releases were in july , june
• In year 2018 , most releases were in october , December
• In India , highest number of releases were in 2018 , then there is a downwards trend
• Most popular category in india is Comedies, Dramas, International Movies
