Describe the feature

Currently the error handling is not precisely homogeneous. We could improve this by implementing an error management system that takes care of the error propagation and notification in a consistent manner. It could also improve the log system. Technical implementation is yet to be defined, but I'm opening this ticket to keep track of it.
