Background

Roland's Juno 60 is an amazing synthesizer because, despite its simplicity (just one oscillator), it is renowned for sounding great and being very intuitive to use.

We chose it as the reference-implementation for this project because:

• Its simplicity means it should be easier to get something that sounds nice and also to reach our performance goals.
• The Owners Manual and Service Notes are readily available on the internet, and provide lots of useful information (including settings for its factory patches).
• Andy Harman's Juno60 repository contains analysis for its functions.
