Upgrading a Mini to the Einsy Retro

The LulzBot Mini 2 uses the Einsy Retro board from UltiMachine and as such, this is a relatively easy upgrade to perform on previous generation Mini printers.

A few connectors have changed so there will be some adjustments necessary to the wiring inside the control box:

  • Replace connectors on the power leads
  • Replace the two pin connector on heat-sink fan with a three pin connector
  • Replace the two pin connector on the case fan with a three pin connector

If you do not wish to purchase new parts, you can swap the connector shrouds on the fans with the shrouds on the X-Max and Y-Min, leaving X-Max and Y-Min disconnected (Drunken Octopus firmware does not need these). The pins can be disengaged from the shrouds using a dental pick without the need to modify the ends.

After the Upgrade:

Flash Drunken Octopus firmware for the Einsy Retro. The firmware files for the Einsy Retro are under the "custom" folder and are indicated by "Einsy" in their names.
