I intend on this being the last dogecoin core snap version for a variety of reasons:

  • Completeness of current build script and install instructions
  • Deprecation of core18, which affects legacy and 32-bit systems
  • Like gitian, the build process gradually turning into an epic ordeal
  • Snap performance gradually getting worse on a variety of systems

Regardless, I'm submitting this for completeness as several other 1.14.x releases included snapcraft instructions. I have migrated from core18 (bionic) to the latest base available, core22 (jammy) in case future devs want to build on this.

Later on during this development cycle, I will investigate other avenues like dnf, flatpak, or appimage to increase accessibility on non Debian/Arch/NixOS based distros.

Tested on x86_64 Ubuntu Jammy. Needs a squash, otherwise ACK for that part.

Note: It would be good if someone can test this on arm64 (pref: raspberry pi 4/5)
