Low CPU frequency while igpu is hard using, Does is normal ?

EFI version 1.5.9

my cpu frequency start dropping from 4.0-3.7 GHz to 1.2 - 0.6 GHz while iGPU(UHD620) are hard using like screen sharing or play some game. But when iGPU not using so much everything work fine.

This is an problem or is normally ?

Edit: while my cpu freq goes down is may system very laggy.

Try running some benchmark while using the gpu.... the reason the cpu is running at 3.xGHz is because software rendering... 8k60fps is too much for igpu to hardware accelerates.

OK I tried to benchmark while using igpu. result is cpu freq still going down and make my system slow.
look like when igpu reach more 1.x GHz CPU starting go down automatically.

Run AppleIntelInfo.kext while the cpu is throttling and post the result. Also try https://github.com/stevezhengshiqi/one-key-cpufriend

@queenleonidasth I just got the same issue my self too, with 1.6.1 EFI, after running AppleIntelInfo myself, it seems that the cpu has hit the TDP wall because the iGPU is using all the power, by raising it with voltageshift it should work much butter

Does removing rps-control property in config.plist help?

I got 2 screenshots before removing rps-control to explain this problem.

This one is before removing rps-control and no cpu patch(TDP and undervolting)

The CPU frequency is locked at 0.6, and gfx req is about max.

And this one is right after TDP change:

It seems very odd as the CPU utilization dropped and frequency increased while maintaining almost the same power usage.

After removing rps-control it seems like the GFX Request in the Intel power gadget is very low now (0.03~0.3 when idle), so seems to fix it, or it just was because of a fresh restart... I'm surprised as rps-control was present in my EFI backup as well and I haven't noticed a significant performance drop.

@Menchen Thx for the test! I will remove rps-control in the next release.

For framebuffer-con2-type, it just changes connector2(type c in our machine) type to dp. Whatevergreen will automatically change connectors type to HDMI, and framebuffer-conX-enable can also stop this automation. So, adding framebuffer-con2-type or not does not have any matter, I add that just for clearer look for other people.

UPDATE : Now I'm removed rps-control , using one-key-cpu friend and Voltageshift but when igpu are huge load CPU clock still going down to 1.9-2.2 Ghz that make overall system lag (moving application windows , genie effect).

Did I miss something ?
