different speed offsets depending on the incline of the treadmill

Hello,
i use the speed offset (under advanced settings) to calibrate/correct my treadmill speed, so it match my stryd speed that i trust.
If the treadmill is flat it works perfectly, but the more incline i choose the more the speed differs in comparisson.

So could there be a way to set different speed offsets depending on the incline?
for example:
0% incline = -0.6km/h
2% incline = -0.55km/h
...
10% incline = -0.35km/h
... and so on

I don't remember: the inclination is coming to qz from the treadmill directly? anyway now there isn't a way to link the inclination to the speed but of course I can add it. It will require a quite amount of work to handle each settings....

yes, the inclination comes directly from the treadmill to qz in that case.

Quite an amount of work is not what i wanted.
What i also thought off, was that i can also set the speed offset to an average offset value (so it's correct for 8% incline) when i know i run with inclination, or make an separate profil for flat and inclination runs.

0% incline = -0.6km/h
2% incline = -0.55km/h
...
10% incline = -0.35km/h

are these coming directly from the Stryd? So maybe it's faster to use directly this? Are you sure that the stryd metric is better than the treadmill metric for speed?

no, the deltas here are just examples, and not calculated... i would just have to test it out with different inclines and then set the speed offsets.
i can say that when the treadmill is on 10% the speed differs about 0.2km/h to the flat one.

The definitely best option would be if the speed were transferred directly from the Stryd Pod to QZ (Zwift). This way the most accurate speed would be transmitted, without given speed offsets.
But then the treadmill would no longer be controllable by qz (zwift)!?

From my side absolutly yes, the stryd is very accurate. Because it's measuring your running speed (your feet), and not the belt, which slows down slightly with every step.

I guess this is the best way. I can add a new setting to override the speed of the treadmill using the one from the stryd.

so when i do a workout in zwift now, zwift/qz transmits the speed from the workout to the treadmill, but the shown speed in zwift/qz comes from the stryd? amazing!

after rebooting the computer it worked again. but after closing the qz app and opening it again it doesn't work again.

i rebooted the computer once again, and now it worked again. i closed and opened the qz app now for 3 times (without rebooting the computer), and now it worked well (all 3 times).

what i did is when zwift request a speed, qz will check the delta from the real one, and apply a real time offset to match the real one. so stryd is 10, treadmill is 10.6, zwift asks 11, qz should ask the treadmill to go to 11.6

BUT, a big problem now is, that if i'm not actually running (because i'm standing to look for a workout and start it as i'm still standing), then the treadmill jumps to crazy high speeds, because the stryd is reporting very low (or zero speed). so qz tries to get the stryd speed up and turns the treadmill up to 18km/h or something...

what are the possibilities here?

Yes, that sounds good.
So the maximum speed qz sets is the requested workout speed, that is a good feature. 👍🏻

So if my speed is 0,and qz sets to the requeated speed from the workout, there is also no speed offset in this first workout step? The offset happens in the next step (the next requested workout speed)?

Or will the offset work all the time, even during one workout step, without zwift dictating anything?

You need to pair the stryd as a power sensor and enable to use stryd as speed source (don't know the exact name, but is all under "accesoires")

As a Stryd user myself, I contacted Roberto after purchasing the iOS app yesterday to request access to the Beta and ask about Stryd -v- Treadmill speed differences. I've been pairing my Stryd with Zwift rather than my Noble-Pro e8i treadmill.

The "Use speed from the power sensor" option, (not currently merged into the iOS beta code), sounds like it will allow me to replicate my previous pairing setup and remove treadmill set speed from the equation. Currently the treadmill starts at 0.8 km/h faster than Stryd going down to 0.5 km/h faster after about 30 minutes of running probably due to the treadmill/me warming up!

As I dual record using my Garmin so that I have all of the Stryd metrics in Garmin Connect, here's a comparison of my first proper run using QZ from earlier this evening.

Garmin Activity (Stryd sensor as speed and cadence source) - 6:53/km:
Garmin/Stryd

Zwift Activity (including elevation), speed from treadmill, cadence from Stryd, uploaded to Garmin - 6:25/km:
Zwift/Treadmill

Treadmill speed was fixed at 9.5 km/h, 6:19/km until 33:00 min.

Not an ideal course for running with gradient as it varies quite quickly and the treadmill reacts quite slowly. :-)

In zwift i connect qz (wahoo...) as speed sensor and stryd directly without qz as cadence sensor.

@afitz85, when Stryd is connected to my Garmin as an Ant+ foot pod, (not a power meter), and directly to Zwift for run speed and cadence, the recorded speed, cadence and distance are consistent between Garmin and Zwift.

Unfortunately, when using the iOS app, I can't pair the Stryd to QZ as the speed sensor (use speed from power sensor) and Stryd directly to Zwift for cadence. If Stryd is connected to QZ, Zwift can't see it and when connected to Zwift QZ can't see it.

I'm going to have to revert to pairing Stryd to Zwift and only use QZ if I want Zwift to control the treadmill gradient.

I can't use the Garmin foot pod with QZ as it is Ant+ only, no Bluetooth @cagnulein.

I can pair the Stryd with QZ, which displays speed and cadence on my phone and QZ pairs to Zwift but Zwift doesn't receive speed or cadence from QZ.

I've just done a selection of short tests:

For all of them, QZ recorded approx. 200m of distance, speed was increased up to 5 km/hr in 1 km/hr increments on the treadmill.
For the first four, no cadence was detected in Zwift.
For the first three no speed was detected in Zwift.
The fourth one wasn't paired to Stryd at all and QZ was transmitting treadmill speed to Zwift. No cadence in Zwift and avatar slow to start moving.
The final one was with Stryd paired directly to Zwift with speed and cadence detected. Avatar started moving within a couple of seconds of the treadmill starting as it reacts to cadence more quickly than speed.

hah ok in case if you have an Android device, you can use it with QZ @Cluaran

I guess i found a issue in your configuration @Cluaran
could you please set the treadmill as "Manual device" in the advanced setting? QZ was creating 2 different virtual devices for zwift and that's the main issue.

@cagnulein, this is a very long thread so I' m not quite sure what issues are still outstanding. I'm available to test any Windows, iOS, or Android builds and also have Stryds for testing.

@cagnulein, I just did a test with latest build and BT restart script. The current batch script does not work in my case as it doesn't restart all the Bluetooth services needed. I found that restarting all bluetooth services worked so I will include the new batch script below.

After BT restart, my two Stryds show up in QZ with a BT hex address added to the name. See pic below. However, after selecting one as the Power device and turning on 'use power as treadmill', QZ does not show any speed while running. See QZ log below.

Also, a minor issue - under Zwift options, I noticed there is a duplicate of 'Zwift treadmill auto-inclination'. See pic below.

@victorypoint the 2 auto inclination settings are correct. As you can see from the note fields, one is for android and ios (zwift api) and one is for pc (OCR).

@victorypoint checked: in the log with the power_sensor_as_treadmill enabled even after 1 minute the services discovery process was still running. so could I ask to leave qz running for at least 2-3 minutes before starting run? I guess this is something about the first discovery process.

Yes it works so far for me. Everytime before i start QZ + then Zwift i do the Bluetooth Restart Batch.

So now that's automatically included in the actual QZ version, and i have not to do this anymore manually?
