Would you recommend the aqc111 or the r8152?

The r8152 is definitely the most cost-effective.

However, if you are using a mainline 4bay or higher model such as the DS9xxx+, I would recommend the aqc111.

In an ideal environment, the r8152 will perform around 300MB/s, while the aqc111 will perform around 450MB/s. The difference is not as great as the logical maximum speeds of 2.5Gbps and 5Gbps, but it is about 1.5 times greater.

If there is no storage transfer speed bottleneck in your environment, this difference is significant, and the price difference for an Ethernet adapter makes sense.

On the other hand, if you are using a lower-end model with a j, or a 2bay or lower model without an M.2 slot, then the aqc111 is completely over spec'd since a storage transfer rate of 450 MB/s is not achievable.

Finally, I would like to add that products using the latest RTL8156BG have very low power consumption. If you are installing your NAS in a poorly ventilated area, the r8152 would be a good choice.
