You may see an error like the following:
note: /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lX11: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lXtst: No such file or directory
This happens because the libxtst-dev package is not installed and can be resolved with:
# apt-get install libxtst-dev
