Erlang examples

Copyright 2017 Phil Dempster

This repository contains several example applications:

  1. hello_joe, a tutorial implementing 3 iterations of a simple conference server and introducing OTP
  2. traffic_light, a trivial finite state machine to control a fixed traffic light sequence
  3. cohort, a minimalist demonstration of failover in a distributed OTP application running on a 2 node cluster

Build

The example applications are set up to build using rebar3.

VSCode integration

Ctrl+Shift+B (or Cmd+Shift+B on Mac) will build & test from within VSCode.

Linter

The Elvis rebar3 plugin is used to provide code linting.

From a terminal, use rebar3 as lint lint.

Code coverage

From a terminal, use rebar3 do eunit, ct, cover. This will run the unit tests and Common Test suites and display a summary coverage report.

Detailed coverage reports can be found by opening _build/test/cover/index.html.
