The TERM environment variable can be set in the config now (default remains `linux`). Thus, it is no longer necessary to add export statements to your shell rc files.

The TERM environment variable for launched programs (shell, editor) was hardcoded as "linux" in
term.c. Now it can be set in theconf.h(default remains "linux").In my opinion, this is much nicer because you don't have to add
export TERM=...to your shell rc any more. This is especially useful for me as I sometimes use the plain vconsole and sometimes urxvt under Xorg.
